BMW marine diesel engines - superiority to the very last detail.
- Forged steel crankshaft.
- Thermostat-controlled salt water cooling to guarantee
constant operating temperature. Salt water pump, special pump
wheel made of Neoprene rubber.
- Sturdy design and long service life. Cast aluminum
crankcase.
- Cylinders and cylinder head made of gray cast iron.
- Light-alloy pistons with two compression rings
and oil removal ring.
- Crankshaft with two bearings.
- Low fuel consumption; 1.5 ltr./0.33 Imp gals (D7)
and 2.5 ltr./0.55 gals (D 12) per operating hour at maximum
output.
- Bosch injection pump with mechanical control and
system ventilation. The result is optimum combustion, clean exhaust
fumes, perfect starting characteristics, and absolute running
smoothness.
- D12 with swirl-action combustion chamber (flat
bottom design) for smooth running characteristics.
- D12 with additional mass balance compensation by
way of an equalization shaft to guarantee added smoothness
and even more comfort on board.
- Easy access to all parts.
- Elastic engine mounts to reduce vibrations conveyed
to boat's hull.
- Fuel supply pump with manual operation if required.
- High performance fuel supply filter
- 20 degree (D7) and 25 degree (D12) permanent inclination

- Crankshaft running in anti-friction bearings, forced-feed
lubrication of connecting rod bearings by patented centrifugal
lubrication system.
- Exhaust fume collector mad of gray cast iron and
cooled by salt water flow.
- Intake silencer fitted to air filter to minimize
running noise.
- Hi-Performance alternator and starter.
